Creative web tools for children.

I have been asked to explore a website called 'Kerpoof' which is owned by Walt Disney Company.
You can do many things on this website including:
  • make artwork( even if you can not draw) / a movie /a story/ t-shirts/mugs/cards/ drawings
  • earn 'koins' which you can use in shop to buy items.
  • vote on other people's work.
  • Watch tutorial videos.
  • Get ideas for lesson plans(teachers)
I attempted to make a short animated movie and I found it was very easy to use but a few things I would have had to purchase using 'Koins' that you earn from doing an action e.g making a story or card.
Membership is free but an adult/ parent has to approve the email before the child can save their work. The problem I found with this site is that the children can only save their work to the website and not to a computer or other device.

Overall I think that this website is very good as you can make many things and it is a brilliant site for children to show their creativity.
Check out what I created and all the features the site has to offer.

Story Board

We have been asked to create a short story using only 7 pictures. We are not to use any words and have to use original photos that we have taken. I found it hard to think of what to photograph. We were shown some examples of different places/ animals that other people have used to create their story boards.

I then decided that I was going to make a story out of something that I like........SHOES!

After taking several photos I found them quite boring so I had to think of something else.

I decided to stick to the idea of shoes but I had to make the photos more interesting and so I made the shape of letters out of the shoes and spelt out ' I LOVE SHOES' but that was 9 photos so instead of the word love I put a heart symbol.

After I was happy with the photos I used a free website called Kizoa  to create a collage. I found this website very useful as I could edit my photos as I was going along and also I could of created a slideshow/video and much more.

In my next post I will post my storyboard.

Reflective Process

Reflecting on my learning plays an important part in my higher education and my overall learning. As a student I am responsible for my own progress. My lecturers will give me feedback on my work and reflecting on this feedback will help me to improve.
Mandy introduced us to a webpage called Bubbl.us. This is where I created this mind map. It was very simple to make and each one is unique as there are many colours to choose from. Also you can link the bubbles in as many ways as you like.
Bubbl.us is completely free and you can also make an account so that you can save your work to go back to it.
I think this application will help Primary and Secondary school children to learn but I think that the younger children may need some help in the making of the map.
Not only has this helped me today with my reflective learning but I feel it will also help me when it comes to revising for an exam or assignment.
I have posted the link below so If you are interested click on the link, check it out and make your own mind map!

Music+Football=More Interesting?

Pretty Impressive don't you think?

How many women around the world moan when the football comes on?

How many women actually enjoy watching a game of football?

The answers to these two questions is very few.

In my opinion, football would be more appealing to me and possibly many other women if every game started with a well known musical number. This way:

  • every player will get the warm up they need before the match
  • the crowd can all join in and encourage the players to play well
  • gives a chance for the players to bond
  • everyone can have a sing song together

That was my first idea.
Another thing is the kit.
Baggy shorts and top, long socks?
To me that is boring.
I think that each team should wear morphsuits.

Because:

  • less air resistant to enable the player to run faster.
  • Can come in any colour and badge can be put on to them.
  • Name and number will be seen more clearly.
  • Muscles can be seen better to make sure they are working out.
  • Covers arms and legs and keeps players warm in the winter.
What do you think?

Blog? What is a blog?

A blog is a personal, unique piece of writing. Sharing your personal thoughts, ideas and views. It can be written about anything.

There are a few differences between a blog and a website:

Presentation and content:
· Website Colourful, lots of pictures.
· Blog Simple text, few colours and pictures.
· Blog → link where people can contribute their views, link to the Author's other blogs/pages.
· Website → lots of information and many sub-headings leading to other parts of the website.
· Blog is much simpler and is about what is going on at that time when the blog is written.
· Website provides a wide range of information where the blog is biased and only shows the view of one person/ or a group of people.
Information :
· Blogger’s information is shown on the blog and you can click to go to their private profile and view other blogs they have written.
· Blog → Simple to work around
· Blog → certain words are highlighted linking to other blogs related to that subject.
· Blog → is dated and given it’s own heading/ title.
· Readers can comment.
· Connection to social networking.

Early Memory..

One of my earliest memories is when I was 4.I sang in a charity night in the Grand Theatre, Swansea. I can still remember looking out into the crowd and seeing my mother crying. After that I was always on the karaoke machine. I loved being in the spotlight and I wanted to become.....

A SUPERSTAR!!

During college I was in most of the shows. I loved seeing the audience's faces lighting up when we all started to sing. In January 2011 we were rehearsing for 'The Wizard of Oz' and some of the local Primary schools came in to be a part of the show. We had to teach the children the songs and the routines. They say never to work with children and animals and in that show we worked with both! Seeing the children on the opening night doing the routines we had taught them I have never felt so proud.

That is how I am here now writing this blog at Swansea Metropolitan University. I am currently studying Educational Studies. In a few years I am hopefully going to be that teacher that puts on all the Christmas shows!

Thanks for reading my first ever blog.
